We chose to analyze social fraternities in Ithaca, NY to examine one of the typologies of social exclusivity. This gave us insight to the power dynamics, social hierarchies, and rituals in certain living communities. We wanted to take what we learned and make something quite opposite, creating a hierarchically neutral space were people felt like they belonged, while also taking lessons about community building.
